National Championships 2025
Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy
27-29 June 2025
This year's Nationals will be held on 27-29 June at the country's top sailing venue, the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy (WPNSA). The venue offers fantastic open water sailing, first-class facilities and professional race management. This is where the Olympic sailing was held in 2012, so you know it's going to be a truly memorable event.
Early Bird offer
The Association is once again grateful for the support of Hartley Boats in providing an Early Bird offer. If you enter before midnight on 20th April you'll receive a £40 discount, reducing the price to just £100. This is amazing value for nine races over three days at the UK's top venue!
To enter, make sure you're logged in to the website (here) and then go to the Enter Online tab on the menu or click here.
After 20th April, the entry will revert to the full price of £140 until 28th May, when entry will close.
Racing programme
You can expect excellent racing throughout the fleet, from beginners all the way up to super-fit podium-chasers. There's something for everyone in the friendliest fleet on the water.
- Three races per day, nine in total (as ever, subject to the conditions)
- Similar courses to those in previous years, with a trapezoid and then sausage(s)
- Race duration 45-55 minutes
- Sailing out in the bay if possible, or in the harbour if conditions demand it
- Gate starts
We'll be sharing the venue with the 505 class nationals. They're expected to be a smaller fleet than us, and the two fleets will be kept separate on the water. The intention is for us to launch 15-30 minutes in advance of the 505s.
And for a couple of evenings we'll be holding drop-in surgeries in the boat park, where some of our top sailors will be available to give advice on settings and techniques.
Social programme
On Saturday evening we'll have a dinner at the club, which is a great chance to mix with your sailing buddies, make new friends and exchange stories of triumph and disaster. The cost is £17 per person if you'd like to attend, payable in advance with your entry. If you have any special dietary requirements, please send an email to chairman@supernovadinghy.org.
On other evenings, there will be plenty of opportunity to mingle with your fellow sailors or do your own thing. Weymouth has loads of good pubs and restaurants, and the beautiful Dorset countryside is right on the doorstep.
Accommodation
Weymouth offers ample accommodation, including campervan slots at the club. For more information, click the link here.
Freebies
Every entrant who attends will receive a FREE branded rash vest to help us all remember the event. A variety of sizes is available from small up to XXL. (Please note that the entry form says 'Polo shirt', but it is definitely a rash vest.)
Plus, after each day's sailing, well-earned FREE snacks will be available to help you recover some energy.
Prizes
As ever, there will be prizes for Platinum, Gold, Silver, Bronze and Beginner, Lady and Youth, as well as perhaps the odd prize for anyone who, ahem, distinguishes themselves during the racing.
Request for assistance
If any non-sailors would be willing to help with launching and recovery, the fleet would be eternally grateful. It's a significant challenge with a large fleet of singlehanders, especially when many of the sailors aren't practiced at launching into waves.
