Tuning the Supernova Dinghy

Lower Shrouds

Postby Tony 596_old » Thu May 15, 2008 8:21 am

Hello I'm new to the Class having just purchased boat No. 596. I have spent the last few days rigging her on dry land & sorting the odd litle jobs

Upon closer inspection it looks like one of the lower wires is damaged & therefore needs replacing. Before I do so one question I have, do the rules allow for the wire on the Lowers to be changed to V12 ?

Thanks
Tony L.

The trainer was showing off dynema lowers at the haversham training day. My understanding of the rules is that provided you don't spend so much that the upgrade would be beyond the means of most sailors, then anything goes. Of course you must have standard hull, spars and sails.

As you will only be spendig a couple of quid, you should be fine. Anyway, the tactical advantage is only the same as 1 week on weightwatchers!
