...Wimbleball SC Open 7th June 2008

The 17 sailors enjoyed glorious sunshine and light to medium shifty conditions at Wimbleball SC Supernova open on the 7th June.

The first race saw Cotswolds SC sailor Jeff Mountain take a significant lead on the long and shifty beat with local sailors Robin Bainbridge, Dave Stockton and Geoff Curtis sailing closely and tactically for the two points. Mountain maintained his lead for first with Curtis second and Bainbridge third.

After a wonderful lunch the first race of the afternoon saw half of the fleet disqualified for leaving the port windward mark to starboard including Mountain who won on the water. Close racing allowed the lead positions to be changeable, with Curtis taking first, Stockton second and WSC Commodore Paul Harwood Third.

The patchy winds of the third race again offered very close tactical racing which was dominated by local sailors with Geoff Curtis taking first, Stockton second and Bainbridge moved through the fleet to take third place.

With the loss of his first from the second race Jeff Mountain still took overall fourth, with Robin Bainbridge third and Dave Stockton second. Geoff Curtis utilised his local knowledge and experience to take first place.

Overall Results:
1st Geoff Curtis - Wimbleball SC
2nd Dave Stockton - Wimbleball SC
3rd Robin Bainbridge - Wimbleball SC
