The 5 home boats were joined by 4 visitors in glorious sunshine, but sadly
very light winds.
Race 1.
Light and variable wind from at least 3 points on the compass, Mike Gibson
set the pace pursued closely at the finish by Chris Hawley, a close peleton
followed in behind. A very uneventful race, more coffee please.
Race 2.
Still light and variable, Gibson pulled a huge lead from the start, Sam Hood
showing good sprinting over the first 100 yards, but unable to obtain
Olympic qualifying for the second hundred, the rest of the fleet were
floundering watching the hay baying. Dave Everett explored the bank side
flora and fauna in a tight contest with a big green tractor but lost out due
to 4 wheel drive.
Race 3.
A very tight start, Everett became stranded after being OCS in the middle of
a raft of boats. A huge wind shift from the south on the second lap with the
back markers overtaking every one expect or Gibson, there was very close
sailing by the peleton for the next lap with Paul Hinde on a mission using
the sunbathing position led Everett, Hossell, Ian Casewell and C Hawley past
the becalmed Steve Hawley to take 2 place.
With all sailors suffering from the sun, more orange juice was needed. Hell
it was a hot day.
