Bartley SC hosted the most recent Supernova open on Sunday 14 Oct. A total of 21 boats entered with an excellent turnout of 14 visitors. The wind was light as forecast and may have deterred a few from travelling. Race 1: The wind strength was a steady force 2 -3. Most competitors made good starts but the advantage was on the right side of the course and Steve Hawley, Dave Watton , Neil Boneham led the fleet to the windward mark,Boneham rounding first followed closely by Hawley and Watton. Boneham led Hawley until the next windward leg only to lose out going into the mark. Hawley held on to win, with Boneham second Watton third. Race2: The wind had dropped considerably, not that this concerned Steve Hawley, who led a breakaway group Matt Albiston, Chris Bower, Geoff Tucker and Ken Saunders up the right hand side of the beat to round the windward mark well clear of the rest of the fleet. The wind was now shifty and very light and the leading group were not to be caught with Hawley finishing first then Albiston, Tucker ,Saunders and Bower. Race 3: The wind was now even lighter and shiftier. Paul Undrell, Chris Bower and Geoff Tucker made good starts followed by Mark Hartley, Neil Boneham and Keith Farmer. Undrell made good use of the favoured beats and with Bower close finished one and two. Geoff Tucker found a quiet patch of water near to the finish line to allow Steve Hawley through for his third place discard, followed by Hartley, Boneham , Richard Pakes ,Farmer and Albiston. The racing was well organised thanks to Race Officer Steve Ward and team with the Phantom meeting run in tandom. Overall Results:
