SUPERNOVA CHRISTMAS PUDDING – WEST OXFORDSHIRE SAILING CLUB
Fortunately eighteen sailors who dared the force eleven forecast never had more than sharp gusts to face. Mike Gibson crossed the fleet on port, laid the mark and was never challenged again. Dave Everett held second until passed by Mark Hartley and with Bruce Howett and Richard Pakes climbing through the fleet there was much place changing ending Gibson, Hartley, Howett, Pakes, Neil Boneham and Dave Everett.
Race two was a pursuit based on the first race and form. Harry Bartlett shot away. Nobody looked like catching him until a sharp wind shift put him the wrong side of the beat letting Roger Postbeschild and Geoff Birch through. Suddenly the pursuing pack closed. Pakes charged through to win from Howett, Paul Ernshaw, Gibson, Mark Mason and Geoff Birch.
Race three the same but modified format. Hedley Dowler leading the way with Everett and Birch closing. Again it was Gibson and Pakes who came through quickest to win from Everett and Ian Casewell, Chris Watts and Hartley.
The format of this end of season meeting was popular with nobody getting more than one prize. There were increased numbers for the evening festivities
