Winter Championship sponsored by Oxford Carriers

The Championship was held for the second year running at Bartley SC in Birmingham.

It drizzled persistently during the day but the competitors enjoyed a steady force 2-3 for the first race reducing slowly in the afternoon to force 1-2.

Eighteen boats entered the event with thirteen travellers from as far as Portsmouth and Bolton.

Race1: Flitcroft, Broom, Pakes and Boneham led the way up the first beat and lapped in that order. Everett and Hartley closed on the pack to pull through to 4th and 5th. Broom and Flitcroft pulled away from the group in a close fight for first place with Broom taking the honours with superior downwind speed to finish on a downwind leg. Pakes came in 3rd, Everett 4th, Hartley 5th and Boneham 6th.

Race 2: Broom, Pakes and Flitcroft led with Hartley in hot pursuit, Broom was not to be caught and took another 1st to give him the Championship. Pakes and Flitcroft battled it out for 2nd and 3rd Hartley maintained a steady 4th and Tucker let Everett and Boneham through to take 5th and 6th places.

Race 3: The wind had dropped to Force 1-2 now with a starboard bias. Boneham, Pakes, Tucker and Hood made good starts. Boneham and Tucker tacked early to cross the fleet on to the right side of the course. Boneham rounded 1st to establish a clear lead which he held to the finish, Tucker followed with Pakes, Hood and Jobson close. Flitcroft pulled back from 7th to finish a respectable 4 th.

The presentation included both the 2005 Travellers Trophy Series and the Winter Championship.
