The Supernova open meeting was held at Llangorse SC on September 30 to
October 1 and the Saturday saw winds of south-south-east, reaching
speeds of around 14mph with gusts reaching occasional 20mph.
Twenty-one boats started the first race at 1400hrs, with three back-to-back races. The first was won convincingly by Richard Pakes - maybe a sign of what was to come.
OOD Nick Taylor set demanding courses to test the very best, and Race 2 saw Steve Hawley claim the honours with Hollier and Earnshaw in close contention.
The final race of the day saw Pakes gain the podium again. Saturday night everyone retired to the Red Lion Llangorse for pub food and real ale… would this bring a change to the results?
Sunday saw slightly higher wind speeds gusting 27mph. Races 4, 5 and 6 saw Pakes win again very deservedly with Hawley, Hollier and Dangerfield in hot pursuit. Presentation was held in the club house by Commodore Robert Dangerfield. All the fleet hope that 2007 will bring another welcome return to Llangorse for the Supernova fleet.
