Twenty four boats got away for race one with some making much better starts than others in a shifty and lumpy breeze. Andy Flitcroft led Mike Gibson by different amounts for the whole race with newcomer to the fleet Richrd Pakes scoring third ahead of Mrk Giles who had recovered from thirteenth place on lap one. Jeff Mountain was sixth with Mark Mason, Geoff Childs, Chris Bower and David Everett in close attendance.

Slight adjustments to course and line to suit the wind followed as skies darkened with the forecast rain. Giles led to the windward mark with Flitcroft in second closely followed by Gibson, Barry Buzzard and Adrian lumb. Flitcroft had to take a penalty and dropped back while Giles increased his lead to win from Gibson, Buzzard, Lumb, Jeff Tucker and Flitcroft.

Race three saw Gibson break clear with only Mountain in close persuit for the whole race. With Gibson unbeatable and certain now to win the meeting a considerable battle for second and third place overall was taking place. Flitcroft was third for much of the race with Pakes and Giles changing places and Ken Carroll, also new to the fleet, pressing hard with Mason also coming through. On the next to last mark Flitcroft again did turns allowing Pakes and Giles into third and fourth places which they held with Carroll and Mason also just coming through for fifth and sixth places.

A successful meeting with several new sailors and good courses in difficult conditions for race officer Tony Thresher.
