Despite the light wind forecast a record number of 29 helms took part at the latest open. With little or no wind the Race Officer (John Ward) offered to postpone the first race, but the Supernova helms were keen to sail. Some were a bit too eager resulting in a general recall, but from the second start local helm Jim Rye (sailing his first Supernova Open) took an early lead followed by the Bartley pair of Mike Gibson and Neil Boneham. With the rest of the fleet rafting up at the first mark the leading group edged away in the light winds. Rye maintained his lead for most of the race until he had to do a 720 after colliding with Gibson. Once ahead Gibson went on to win followed by Rye, Boneham and David Everett making up 4 places on the last leg.

With slightly better winds before the start of the second race an optimistic fleet set out only for the wind to die again on the starting signal. Barry Buzzard took an early lead followed by Martin Gibson, Jim Rye, Neil Boneham and Mike Gibson. With the rest of the fleet becalmed, this group soon had an extensive lead. After many place changes Rye went on to win followed by Mike Gibson, Martin Gibson, and Barry Buzzard.

With Rye and Gibson Both on three points it was all down to the last race. With the wind dropping off even more a short triangular course was set. Boneham was first to the windward mark; Gibson made it hard for himself by being over at the start but recovered well and was second but followed closely by Rye. With the wind continually turning the first lap was made up entirely of beats! Boneham was first, Gibson second, Rye third and Adrian Stell moved up to fourth. Full Results
