Supernovas
at West Oxfordshire SC
26th April 2003
Twenty four Supernovas started the first race of the W.O.S.C.
open meeting in a light wind which blew from almost every direction
at times. Sam Hood led to the first mark to be passed
by Adrian Hollier and Grant Brown with Mike Gibson close behind.
Hollier drew away and looked clear but on the last lap Gibson passed
Brown and relentlessly closed the lead down to win. Brown was third
with Ian Casewell climbing to fourth ahead of Martin Gibson
and Hood. Race two saw a steadier breeze. Mike
Gibson led Mark Giles to the first mark. Boneham's penalty
for a minor infringement droped him back and Barry Buzzard and then
Hollier passed Giles. David Everett rose to fifth with
Steve Hawley sixth on every lap. The third race saw some
heavier gusts but Hollier led from start to finish, Mike Gibson
moved steadily up to second with Boneham taking third from Andy
Flitcroft who had also passed Buzzard for fourth place.
Hawley, improved from a poor start to sixth for equal finishing
points with Brown in a race of many place changes behind the first
three boats. 1st Mike Gibson Bartley S.C. 2nd Adrian
