Supernova Sailing Dinghy Race Details

Llangorse SC

11th & 12th October (Saturday & Sunday) Supernova Open (TT) - Llangorse SC in the Brecon Beacons

NOTE these dates are revised from the originally published 6-7th October dates

Llangorse lake is a 450 acre lake set in the very picturesque Brecon Beacons National Park. It is the second largest lake in Wales - a spectacular location. For the non-sailor there are a multitude of activities available, including parascending, rock climbing, horse riding, mountain biking, scenic walks, visits to Brecon Town, Hay on Wye (world capital for second-hand books), etc.. So not only a great sailing location, but a possibility for a weekend or extended weekend away. This open meeting is always a favourite.

The format has changed for this year to allow a more "fun factor". The Saturday races will start approx. at 1pm and consist of a series of short 1/2 hour races (as many as can be fitted in). Prizes go to the overall results of these.

The results of Saturday's racing will not be carried over to Sunday as previously.

Sunday is the main open meeting. 3 races with 2 to count. This means you can come just for Sunday if you want to compete in the "Open". 11am briefing on Sunday.

A list of accommodation in the local area is available. This includes Camping, caravanning, B&B, hotels, etc., every sort of accommodation you can wish for.

Entry fee around £10 for the event (i.e. both days).

As in previous years there will be meal in the "Red Lion" after Saturday’s sailing. Apart from the great but inexpensive food on offer (and drink), there is great company to enjoy.

Route: Llangorse is set between Talgarth and Blwch. Take the A40 to Gloucester - stay on the A40 to Ross on Wye and then Abergevenny. Then follow the road signs for Brecon. As you go through the village of Blwch, Llangorse lake is signposted. Follow the signs to the lake. Its about 4 miles from there. The sailing club is signposted when you get to the lake.
