The Supernova is a
"one design" single handed sailing dinghy of 4.3 metres length with an
8 square metre fully battened mylar sail and stayed mast. It was designed by Mark Giles and is constructed from GRP and foam sandwich by Hartley Laminates in Derby. The Supernova has recently gone through a new incarnation with the introduction of the MK II Supernova. The hull is the same but the main difference is that the deck now has an open self-draining transom. Sail number for the MK II start at 1000.
If the Supernova is new to you the general introduction will
be helpful.

Supernova Super Nationals 2010
National Champ Richard Pakes heading up wind
It most certainly was a Super Nationals sponsored by EFG Private Bank even though we lost a days sailing due to high winds. At last Richard Pakes of Haversham sailing club clinched the National Championships by the narrowest of margins from Mike Gibson. It really was a great venue and LLandudno Sailing Club were terrific hosts. Hopefully it won't be long before we are back there again.

A warm welcome and a big fleet guaranteed at the home of the biggest fleet of Supernovas in the country (27 I think at the last count). You can probably camp at the club on Friday night (watch this space).
