Hi
Being new to dinghy sailing I am using the also new small sail, does anyone have any tips regarding tuning the rig for the reduced size or is it a case of digest the tuning tips on this website and apply common sense (if can find some!)?

Hi

You haven't said which version of small sail you are using. The older sail has soft (short) leech battens and isn't particularly good to use. It doesn't depower progressively and I never liked it. The newer sail (with the newer sailcloth) is fully battened (4 battens) and is a vast improvement. I only use it now in seriously strong winds as it helps with handling sudden onslaught gusts that inevitably cause a lot of capsizes in the strong stuff with the full sized sail. I have also used it with tapered battens.

I'm not aware of any special tuning requirements with either sail. I would be interested in other's views.

Thanks Pete. It is the new fully battened 6.8m design I am using in an effort to learn how to sail a dinghy after a very long break.
