Tacktick mounting positions

Postby PaulBates1218 » Sun Dec 26, 2021 9:59 am

Hi, I’ve just received a Tacktick for Xmas and am wondering if I mount the plate directly to the hatch cover is the angle shallow enough for it to function correctly or will I need to think of something else? Any tips gratefully received.
Thanks Paul

Hi Paul

I think you've had plenty of comments on the Supernova Sailing Group Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/groups/268146688224298 so I won't repeat here.

In summary, yes it's possible with a dedicated mount on the hatch cover, but there are other solutions such as on the mast (either DIY bracket or Carboteck bracket), or on the floor just below the hatch which is where I have it.

The Carboteck Forged Carbon Bracket and Bezel combo is priced at £95. https://www.carboteck.com/product/micro-compass-bracket/. It allows the control lines (halyard, outhaul and Cunningham) to pass between the Tacktick and the mast.
