Final Countdown! 29/06/09
A message from class chairman Dave Everett

"13:00 Friday is fast approaching so perhaps its time to check those final preparations. We will be on the water for a long time as the races are back to back, so a water bottle holder taped to the foot of the mast is a good idea. The association will try to keep a supply of water and mars bars available on the safety boat, but can not guarantee supplies. Also think about taking out some emergency repair items in case of breakages, some lengths of cord, shackles and knife. Check you rudder is attached to the boat and the retaining clip is working, as the wave will soon knock it off if you capsize.

As for the racing I usually find a good night out helps so don't forget the early birds meal on Thursday.

Finally I have prepared some Tidal Stream Charts for inside the sound which are available to download. No guarantees etc as to the accuracy but if you find them useful I can be found at the bar.

Sponsors logo on the sail 28/06/09
As a condition of the discounted entry paid for by the generous sponsorship of EFG Private Bank. You are required to carry a small sticker on the sail for the duration of the event. The sticker is 90cm x 20 cm. and will look something like this:
Nationals Preview in Y&Y 28/06/09
As seems the norm these days most classes publish (at least one) "Nationals Preview" and the Supernova class is no exception. It helps keep the profile of the class up and gives the sponsor a name check.

Off the water..... 25/06/09
We have heard that over the weekend Mayflower SC are intending to run a BBQ, have a quiz night and there will be some music. So all of this and the lively pubs and Captain Jaspers just down the road.
Event Official Photographer 25/06/09
We are pleased to announce there will be an official photographer for the duration of the event. Adrian Hollier has offered his services and is planning on being out on the water for all three days, so don't forget to keep smiling. Many of you will remember Adrian from his Supernova days and the fact he was National Champion in 2004, so he knows about the fleet and how to get the best shots. If you would like any particular picture or group photos please let Adrian know.
Nationals 2009 Sailing instructions 23/06/09
The sailing instructions are now available to download here. (Note: there doesn't appear to be an appendix A showing the courses!) Some highlights - but please make sure you read them yourselves!:
  • 10 races in all - four on the Saturday
  • 11:00am start on Saturday and Sunday!
  • Reversed "P" courses. WW/Reach/Reach/Run
  • Sail through the start on the upwind leg
Online Entry Closes 1st July 23/06/09
In order to get the discounted entry of £40 we must have received your payment either through the sailracer site or by cheque by 6pm on the 1st July (that will give us time to get down there ourselves!).

Gold and Silver Fleets 18/06/09
The list of entrants has now been updated with the grouping of Gold and Silver fleets (click here). If you have ever one an open meeting or other trophy prize (i.e. Silver fleet at the Nationals or Inlands) you will be in the Gold fleet. If you have any queries about this please email me.
Thursday night meal 08/06/09
Our esteemed Chairperson - Dave Everett - made posting on the forum about a chinese meal he is arranging for those arriving on Thursday.
"It is a Chinese Restaurant called the "Wet Wok" right on the water front overlooking the sound. They have reserved us the table at the very front, from 7.00pm on." The menus are available to view here.

Free Polo Shirt! 08/06/09
Get your entries in now! We need to get back to the polo shirt Manufacturers by 12th June with an indication of sizes. There are free polo shirts for the 1st 50 entrants. So please make sure that you are happy with the size you have entered.
The shirts are white and have the sponsors logo on the chest with the Supernova logo on both sleeves. Very natty!
